Abstract

1,175,662. Regulating pressure in steam generators. COCHRAN & CO. ANNAN Ltd. 22 Dec., 1966 [24 Jan., 1966], No. 3137/66. Headings F4A and F4B. A shell boiler 1 is provided with a butterfly valve 4 in its steam outlet pipe 2 which is actuated by pressure-sensitive means 6 through electrical controller 5 to prevent the boiler pressure falling below a predetermined minimum. A further pressure-responsive means 8 downstream of valve 4 activates burner unit 7 to match the firing rate with the demand for steam. Actuation of valve 4 past a given position causes an alarm, such as a bell, to be activated.
