A container 6 for a corrosion preventing additive is located in heater transfer relation with the water space 3 of a boiler furnace, or within the casing 4 of boiler. A measuring device 9 feeds the additive to a passage 11 swept by an air flow which delivers the additive to the air supply passage 5 of the boiler burner. A switch 13 is arranged to cut off the fuel supply, or prevent the re-ignition of a thermostatically controlled burner if the additive container is empty.
