A continuous length of envelope blanks is made by stamping a web, so that each connected blank comprises a rectangular facepiece 4, side panels 5, 6, a bottom flap 7 and a sealing flap 8. The sum of Y1 and Y2 equals X and the sum of the lengths of the side panels 5, 6 is greater than the length of the facepiece 4. The continuous length may be folded and stacked until separation of the envelopes is required.
