1,175,491. 5<SP>1</SP>-Purine nucleotides by fermentation. KYOWA HAKKO KOGYO CO. Ltd. 3 Jan., 1968 [10 Jan., 1967 (2)], No. 386/68. Heading C2C. 5<SP>1</SP>-Purine nucleotides are prepared by culturing Brevibacterium ammoniagenes ATCC 21152 under aerobic conditions at a temperature of 20‹ to 40‹ C. and a pH of 5 to 9 in an aqueous nutrient medium containing as an additive a purine base or a purine nucleoside corresponding to said nucleotide. The additives may be added at the beginning of culturing or during the course of fermentation. Examples describe the preparation of guanylic acid (the di- and tri-phosphates also being produced), inosinic acid, adenylic acid, xanthylic acid and uridylic acid.
