Abstract

1,175,132. Box for dispensing. D. J. WATMOUGH. 8 April, 1968 [13 April, 1967], No. 16926/67. Heading B8P. [Also in Divisions H2 and H3] A box for dispensing dangerous drugs, &c. at predetermined intervals of time and thus preventing a patient taking an overdose, comprises a number of closed receptacles and a time device which allows each receptacle to open after successive time delays. As shown, a rotary disk 7 in a box body 1 has a number of peripheral recesses, each aligned in turn with a port 13 leading to an outlet 14. The disk 7 is driven by an electric motor 6 to which current pulses are fed from a transistorized circuit, Fig. 3 (not shown), carried in a pocket 15 and energized by a battery in a pocket 16. The box is closed by a lid 2, secured by a keyed lock (3), Fig. 2 (not shown), for which the patient has no key. A buzzer or light may be operated to warn the patient each time a dose can be withdrawn from the box. As a modification, the box may consist of a number of fixed receptacles each having a separate locked cover released in turn by a timing device.
