Abstract

1,175,060. Polyolefin compositions. MONSANTO CHEMICALS Ltd. 20 June, 1967 [28 July, 1966], No. 30435/69. Divided out of 1,175,059. Heading C3P. Polyolefin compositions comprise a polyolefin of melt index less than 1, carbon black, an anti-oxidant and an amide slip additive. The polyolefin may be a polymer or copolymer of ethylene, propylene and/or butylene, optionally with minor proportions of acrylonitrile, ethyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride or vinyl acetate. The carbon black may be a channel or furnace black, and the anti-oxidant may be 4,4<SP>1</SP>-thiobis-(6-t.-butyl-m-cresol). Specified slip additives are caprylamide, capramide, lauramide, myristamide, palmitamide, stearamide, oleamide, linoleamide and erucamide. The compositions are useful for sheathing electrical cables.
