Abstract
117,496. Bamford, J. July 20, 1917. Haymaking.-Relates to side-delivery hayraking machines and swath-turning machines of the type in which the rake bars, furnished with pendent tines, are carried between eccentrically placed rotary disks or spiders so as to have combined rotary and endways movement and in which a stripper board or plate is fixed horizontally in front of the rising tines. The invention consists in the provision of a stripper bar or plate formed of thin sheet metal or a bar which is stiffened by longitudinal upturned or curled edges, flutings, or the like. The stripper-plate 1 extends approxi. mately to the length of the rake bars a and is preferably formed with rounded ends 11, 12. One or both edges are upturned as shown at 2, Fig. 2, or the plate may be of T, H, or corrugated form in section. The plate may be secured to end brackets h, pivoted to vertical bars 4 carried by the frame, the brackets and stripper-plate being adapted to be rocked and retained in or out of action by the pressure of spring sleeves 7 on one or the other side of the corners 6 of the brackets h, as described in Specification 5993/13.
