Abstract
1,174,473. Photo-sensitive laminate. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 26 May, 1967 [31 May, l966] No. 32115/68. Divided out of 1,174,473. Heading B5N. An apparatus for preparing a sensitive photographic material comprises an endless polished band 1 disposed horizontally, means for driving the band, means for coating a sensitive photographic emulsion on to the band, zones I, II and III through which the band passes comprising a first zone I in which the emulsion layer is maintained in the fluid state, a second zone II provided with cooling means such that the emulsion layer is set, and a third zone III which is provided with means for continuously feeding a support 3 into contact with a set emulsion layer 2 and subsequently for removing the support together with the adhering emulsion layer from the band. The third zone may include drying means. The emulsion may include silver halide, gelatin and either mucochloric acid or glyoxal, and sedimentation of the silver halide occurs in zone I, in which zone the temperature may be 40‹ C. In zone II the temperature is, e.g. 5‹ C. In zone III a gelatin coated support 3 is applied to the set emulsion layer before this layer is fully dry and is stripped after further drying. The edges of the film 4 produced may be covered with narrow adhesive strips. The emulsion may be as described and claimed in Specification 1,174,473.
