Abstract

117,440. Sears, C. M. July 10, 1917, [Convention date]. Window shutters.-In apparatus for bank and other counters of the type in which a heavy curtain can be quickly interposed, by the cashier, between him and a prospective robber, the curtain is normally prevented from being unrolled by sliding rods 21, Fig. 1, engaging spur wheels on the roller 24, Fig. 3, of the curtain and capable of being released by means of a pedal. In one form, the roller 24 of the curtain 25 is mounted in the uprights of the grille, and the free edge of the curtain is provided with a heavy bar 26 guided in grooves 27 in the uprights so that the curtain, when released, falls by gravity.
