Abstract
1,174,229. Hydraulic jacks. " GRONTMIJ ", GRONDVERBETERING-EN ONTGINNINGMAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 20 Nov., 1968 [24 Nov., 1967], No. 55071/68. Heading B8J. A device for adjusting an adjustable floor 1 of a swimming-bath in a vertical direction comprises four hydraulic jacks, like the one shown, mounted two by two on opposing sides of the floor at a mutual distance. Each jack comprises a cylinder 2 with a piston having a piston-rod 3. Pressure oil is supplied through a pipe 4 by a separate pump for each jack. A pipe 5 provides for the discharge of water and oil which may get on top of the piston. The cylinder 2 rests on a bottom plate 6 and is prevented from rotating by a projection 17 attached to the inner wall of a pipe 11. The piston-rod 3 has a head 7 with three guide rollers 8 bearing against the inner wall of the pipe 11. A profiled section 12 is secured to the head 7 and engaegs a bearing roller 13 secured to the floor 1 by its shaft 14 which is received in a slot 15 when the jack is retracted. A roller 16 engages the sides of the slot 15 to prevent the head 7 from rotating. At the highest position, as shown, the profiled sections 12 and bearing rollers 13 allow the floor to be moved horizontally. When the jacks are retracted the floor is lowered, rollers 13 fitting accurately into the pipes 11. If, for any reason, the jacks do not move uniformly the floor is tilted out of the horizontal and the guide rollers 8 jam against the inner wall of the pipe 11, preventing further vertical movement of the floor 1. The pumps may be operated by a common electric motor, enabling one man to operate the device.
