Abstract

[Also in Division G2] Compounds of the general formula where one of X 1 , X 2 and X 3 is a cyano group, at least one of the other groups X 1 , X 2 and X 3 is either a chlorine or bromine atom, the remaining X being either a chlorine, bromine or hydrogen atom, Y is a direct link or an acyl linkage group selected from -CO.CH 2 .NH- or a group of the formula and R is an acyl group derived from a monocarboxylic acid containing at least one alkyl group of at least five carbon atoms, may be prepared by reacting a compound of the general formula where B is a hydrogen atom, a group -CO.CH 2 .NH 2 or a group of the formula with an acylating agent. Examples describe the preparation of 1-(3-chloro-4-cyanophenyl)- 3 - (2: 4 - di - tert - amylphenoxyacetylamino)-5- pyrazolone, 1 - (3 - chloro - 4 - cyanophenyl)-3- stearoylamino - 5 - pyrazolone, 1 - (3 - chloro-4- cyanophenyl) - 3 - (4 - tert - amylphenoxyacetylamino) - 5 - pyrazolone, 1 - (4 - chloro - 3 - cyanophenyl) - 3 - [α - (2: 4 - di - tert - amylphenoxy)- n - butyrylamino] - 5 - pyrazolone, 1 - (3 - chloro- 4 - cyanophenyl) - 3 - [γ - (2: 4 - di - tert - amylphenoxy) - n - butyrylamino] - 5 - pyrazolone, and 1 - (3 - chloro - 4 - cyanophenyl) - 3 - [α-(2:4- di - tert - amylphenoxy) - n - butyrylamino] - 5- pyrazolone.
