Abstract
1,173,742. Electric couplings. RELIABLE ANODISING Ltd. 8 March, 1967 [13 Dec., 1965], No. 52784/65. Heading H2E. [Also in Division C7] Equipment for the electrolytic treatment of articles comprises a bath having electrical contacts at the sides thereof and means for clamping to the contacts electrical contact members of a jig or beam extending, in use, across the bath and carrying articles for treatment. The electrolytic treatment may be anodizing, electroplating, electro-forming, electrolytic polishing, electro-machining or electrolytic cleaning. Fig. 1 shows jig-carrying beams 10 with parallel contact bars 13 secured thereto. The bars 13 are removably clamped to a contact plate 11 mounted on a rubber block 14 at the side of an anodizing bath 12. The clamping means comprises a piston-operated pivoted arm 16, a plate 18, rubber block 17 and a pressure plate 15. Both the pressure plate 15 and contact plate 11, between which the contact bars 13 are clamped, are connected to bus-bars. A control system, Fig. 3 (not shown), ensures that the busbars cannot be connected in circuit whilst the clamps are disengaged and that the clamps cannot be disengaged whilst the bus-bars are in circuit. The clamps may be pneumatically, hydraulically, electromagnetically or mechanically operated if desired.
