Abstract

1,173,328. Light-sensitive non-silver photographic materials. HORIZONS Inc. Jan 2, 1967 [Jan 7, 1966], No.169/67. Heading G2C. A light-sensitive photographic composition contains an N-vinyl monomer, an organic compound having at least 3 halogen atoms attached to a carbon atom and at least one visible light sensitizer which is an N-vinyl azocarbazole, an N-vinyl naphthocarbazole, a polyacene compound or transannular peroxide thereof, a xanthene or anthracene dye or leuco base thereof or a carbocyanine or styryl dye or base thereof. The N-vinyl monomer may be an N-vinyl amine such as N-vinyl carbazole and the composition may also contain sodium iodide, a triaryl Group V compound or a mercaptobenzothiazole. The composition may be dispersed in a binder and coated on a support. The exposed material may be developed by heating. The sensitizer extends the sensitivity of the composition into the visible range.
