Abstract
1,172,342. Cathode-ray tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 8 May, 1968 [11 May, 1967], No. 21785/68. Heading H1D. A television display tube having an implosion guard which consists of a metal frame secured to the tube and a metal clamping band arranged on the frame and subjected to a large tensile stress, is characterized in that beeswax is applied as a friction - reducing agent between the frame and the band at least in the region of the corners of the tube to equalize the forces at the corners. These forces should lie, for example, between 900 and 1000 Kg. A second clamping band may surround the first band, and beeswax is then also provided between the two bands. The frame may be provided with lugs for securing the tube in a cabinet.
