Abstract

1,172,245. Automatic record changers. GARRARD ENG. Ltd. 21 March, 1967 [21 March, 1966], No. 12349/66. Heading G5R. A record steadying device for a gramophone record changer comprises an edge support 1 for supporting the edge of the lowermost record of a stack 3 held on a shouldered centre spindle of an automatic record changer. The support 1 is provided with a clamp 4 effective for slightly urging the stack 3 downwardly on to support 1 and includes a hooked end 4a adapted to rest on the topmost record of the stack and guided by means of a pin 8 and cam track 7 to move downward along a path in which hook 4a overhangs the record, to move outwardly at the end of the downward movement, then to move upward along a second path outside the edges of the records in the stack, and to return at the end of such upward movement to the overhanging position for a further downward movement. Clamp 4 is pivotally attached to an actuating lever 5 which is pivoted to a lever 6 actuated by a system of levers coupled to an " ON/OFF " control of a record changer. A toggle action is provided between clamp 4 and lever 5 by means of a tension spring 9.
