Abstract

117,188. British Thomson - Houston Co., (General Electric Co.). Oct. 11, 1917. Oil switches.-A switch giving four breaks in series has a pair of fixed contacts carried by each of two insulating supports, the members of each pair being mounted at opposite sides of a separating or barrier portion of the support. Pairs of contacts 13, 14 and 15, 16 are mounted on insulating bushings 3, 4 at opposite sides of barrier portions 11, 12. Contacts 13, 16 are permanently connected by wire 21, and contacts 14, 15 are connected to terminals 5, 6 respectively. The moving contacts 17, 18 are carried by slidable rods 19, 20. The contacts are immersed in oil in a casing 1.
