Abstract
1,171,532. Washers; joint-making packing. BRITISH SCREW CO. Ltd. 29 July, 1968 [5 Aug., 1967], No. 36056/67. Headings F2B and F2H. A sealing washer comprises a core 10 and plastics materials of different rigidity on opposite sides of the core. As shown, the core 10 which may be of metal and annular in shape is encapsulated in plastics which is more rigid below the core 10 than above. The plastics which may be polyvinylchloride may be provided on one side of the washer with a rim 15 at the edge of a central hole 12 passing through the washer, and a peripheral rim 16. A definite boundary may separate the more rigid plastics material from the less rigid or the rigidity of such plastics materials may change progressively from one side of the core 10 to the opposite side thereof. The core 10 may, in alternative arrangements, be of dished shape or substantially annular and provided with a frusto-conical peripheral portion (Fig. 3, not shown).
