Abstract

935,356. Sealing element for containers. W. KIMMELL. April 30, 1962, No. 16497/62. Class 125(3). A sealing element 1 of e.g. polyethylene has concentric ribs 7 with lands 3 interconnecting at least two of the ribs at two or more regions. A thin rim 4 extends around the edge of the element 1. The central portion 9 is concavoconvex so that an injection spike 10 is recessed out of the sealing plane. The ribs 7 which may be provided in both surfaces of the element may be of rectangular, trapeziumshaped sawtooth like, triangular or semirounded cross-section and may overlie one another, or those on one surface may be offset, relative to those on the other.
