Abstract

1,171,475. Fire-proofing timber. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. 24 Oct., 1967 [27 Oct., 1966], No. 48304/66. Heading D1P. Timber is treated successively with aqueous diammonium phosphate solution and aqueous magnesium sulphate solution. The diammonium phosphate solution may contain monoammonium phosphate. The magnesium sulphate solution may be buffered at pH 5-6. Impregnation at each stage may be at 50-250 psi for ¥-2“ hrs. The timber may be evacuated for 1 hr before and after treatment and between impregnations.
