Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A warning device for indicating a lowering of the fluid level in a hydraulic brake fluid circuit below a predetermined minimum level comprises a fluid level indication such as a float 13 or a bellows fitted to the brake fluid supply tank, and arranged to operate a warning signal means 16, 17 connected in parallel electrical circuits with an ignitionkey switch and a foot brake operated switch. The cap 9 of a supply tank is provided with a hole through which passes a rod 12 connected to the float at the other end, slidably mounted on the rod 12 is a metal ball 17. As the float falls due to lowering of the liquid level, the ball 17 also falls until on reaching a predetermined liquid level the ball 17 contacts metal half-rings 15 connected to conductors 16, 16<SP>1</SP> and so operates a warning signal. In another embodiment the level is indicated by the lengthening of a bellows Fig. 4 (not shown). The warning signal may be connected in circuit with the ignition light so that each time the engine of the car is started the signal such as a warning light is tested and if it is faulty a brighter and different colour light shows.
