1,170,274. Propanolamine derivatives. KONINKLIJKE PHARMACEUTISCHE FABRIEKEN V.h. BROCADESSTHEEMAN & PHARMACIA, N.V. 15 Sept., 1967 [16 Sept., 1966], No.41541/66. Heading C2C. Compounds of the general formula (various R symbols are the same or different and each represents H, halogen, alkyl or CF 3 or R 1 + R<SP>1</SP> 1 together represent a -CH 2 CH 2 - or -CH=CH- bridge linking the two rings at the positions ortho to the ether group, and Q represents alkyl, Q being other than C 1-3 alkyl when R symbols all represent H) and their salts are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula with QNH 2 , optionally followed by salt formation. The glycidyl ether starting materials are prepared by standard methods. The compounds of the invention have musculotropicspasmolytic and local anaesthetic activity, some show anti-arrhythmic properties and others show #-synpatholytic activity. They may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
