Abstract

1,169,954. Bulb pipettes. FISON SCIENTIFIC APPARATUS Ltd. 19 Jan., 1968 [19 Jan., 1967], No. 2796/67. Heading B5A. Bulb pipettes are made from thermoplastics by blow-moulding. A thermoplastic tube is heated and one end thereof sealed before expanding in a blow mould. The sealed end is then cut off after removal from the mould. The tube may be heated before placing in the mould or while in the mould, e.g. by using hot air for the expansion. The jet may be formed by normal glass blowing techniques or during blowmoulding, and the pipette may carry markings, e.g. for capacity indication. Suitable materials include polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride and nylon.
