Abstract

1,169,479. Clutch control. TEL-LIFE CORP. 26 Aug., 1968, No. 40727/68. Heading F2L. In a hydraulically operated clutch the slave cylinder incorporates electrical means for detecting and signalling an abnormal force on the slave piston due to excessive wear or misadjustment of the clutch. As shown the slave piston 36 is connected to the release collar 22 by an adjustable rod 38 and link 40, the latter of which is loaded by a spring 44. The electrical detector consists of a metallic spring 51 in an insulating sleeve 49 carried by a plug 46 screwed into the end of the slave cylinder 34, the end of spring 51 normally being separated from a metallic cap 53 on the end of piston 36 by a second spring 54. The spring loadings are so arranged that in the event of abnormal force being applied to members 38, 40 piston 36 is forced towards the end of cylinder 34 causing cap 53 to move into contact with the end of spring 51 to operate a signal lamp 56.
