Abstract

1306565 Fluid pressure warning devices SOC ANON DBA 13 July 1971 [4 Aug 1970] 32722/71 Heading F2E A warning device for a dual fluid pressure braking system comprises: a movable piston 56, responsive to fluid pressure in a chamber 24 connected to one of the two independent subsystems and to displacement of a piston 14 towards the chamber 24 due to failure in pressure in chamber 24, the piston 14 separating chamber 24 from a chamber 26 connected to the other sub-system, the piston 56 operating a stop light; and a failure signal device 34 controlled by a switch assembly actuated by displacement of the separating piston 14 for a central balanced chamber pressure position. The switch assembly comprises a plunger 36 insulated from the chamber body 10 by a sleeve 40 and in electrical contact with the failure signal device 34. Movement of the piston 14 away from the centre position causes contact with plunger 36, and, as the piston is earthed through the body, actuates the signal device 34. Abnormal movement of the piston 14 causes the plunger 36 to engage in one of the grooves 48, 50.
