Abstract

116,904. Rosenbaum, H. Aug. 28, 1916. [Convention date]. Vacuum closures.-Preserving-glasses and the like are sealed by a metal plate d lined with a disk a of cardboard, felt, or similar material which is saturated with wax, paraffin, stearin, resin, &c. During the sterilizing process, the disk a is held on the top of the glass c by means of a bow-shaped spring e bearing upon the plate d. The disk absorbs the steam evolved during sterilization, and the wax &c. b becomes softened so that the disk adapts itself to the rim of the glass and afterwards stiffens into this position when cold. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes the absorbent disk as covered on its underside with a layer of wax, paraffin, &c. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
