Abstract

1,168,913. Tufted laminates. MONSANTO CO. 29 March, 1967 [8 April, 1966], No. 14244/67. Heading B5N. [Also in Divisions A6 and C3] Laminates useful as synthetic turf are prepared from polyamide (e.g. nylon) monofilaments which have been extruded from a composition stabilized against heat and light and pigmented with copper phthalocyanine (optionally halogenated) and chrome yellow. The compositions may contain carbon black to control shade and also a pigment dispersing agent. Various stabilizing mixtures, based on manganese compounds or halide-copper compound mixtures, are mentioned. In examples, (i) yarn is tufted into a nylon woven scrim coated with foam polyurethane and a non-woven rayon-polyolefin secondary backing is applied by means of latex adhesive; and (ii) yarn is woven on a Willen-cut-pile-loom with a woven pigmented acrylic material, a latex adhesive is applied, dried and cured, and an open-cell polyvinyl chloride foam is applied.
