Abstract

[Also in Division C3] A method of preventing corrosion of structural parts in electrical appliances containing sulphur hexafluoride or like fluorine compounds caused by decomposition products of those compounds includes the step of coating the parts with a cold-hardening epoxy resin mixture containing at least (a) an epoxy resin flowable at room temperature and having an epoxy equivalent weight of at most 250 and (b) an amine hardener with at least 2 amino groups per molecule and comprising an alkyl chain of at least 9 carbon atoms. The composition must be free of silicon compounds but may contain other fillers which do not contain silicon compounds. The compositions may be applied by rolling or painting. Electrical appliances specified as containing SF 6 are power switches and transformers.
