Abstract

1,167,765. Facing units. R. KAISER. 21 Feb., 1967 [22 Feb., 1966], No. 8166/67. Heading B5A. Facing units, particularly for bathroom walls, are produced in a rectangular, hollow box-form by applying (i) a layer of synthetic resin, e.g. polyester to the floor thereof and, when set (ii) another layer of resin and then (iii) applying thereover, before the second layer has set, a sheet covering the entire floor area, and (iv) applying a layer of synthetic resin at least to the floor area with a reinforcing insertion thereon, the process being repeated after each preceding layer has set until sufficiently thick. The unit may be fitted with bathroom accessories which may then be embedded in polyurethane foam, e.g. by injecting it into the interior of the unit, or the unit may be a panel only. In the first case, the layers (c) are also applied to the sides of the box. At least the floor of the box is preferably glass, and the reinforcing insertion may be a glass fibre mat. The unit may be drilled or fitted with straps or metal supporting means for connecting purposes. The resin layers may be of different hardness, the layer forming the face being the hardest. The sheet of stage (iii) is preferably a paper web.
