Abstract

1,167,396. Ink-ribbons. COLUMBIA RIBBON & CARBON MFG. CO. Inc. 21 July, 1967 [28 Oct., 1966], No. 33610/67. Heading B6F. An ink ribbon 11, particularly page width duplicating ribbons, has a flexible leader 12 having at least one perforation 13 and a pressure-sensitive strip 14 positioned on and bonded to the underside 12a of the leader so that areas 15 and 16 are exposed for adhesion to an adjacent wrap of the leader when wound on a spool hub. The ribbon 11 may be fourteen inches wide and the leader, formed of impervious material such as metallic foil, plastic film or a resin-treated paper, may contain seven, one inch apertures. The adhesive layer may be adhesive only to another complementary layer, adhesive per se, and may be covered with a masking strip 17. The ribbon 11 may have a plastic film foundation carrying a pressuretransferable solid layer based on waxy or resinous binder materials, in which case the leader 12 may consist of an end portion of the ribbon itself, and may or not be free of transfer material.
