Abstract

1,167,137. Pipes. BASLERSTUCKFARBEREI A.G. 27 Sept., 1966 [28 Sept., 1965], No. 43165/66. Heading F2P. A pipe comprises inner and outer layers 3, 1 of a glass fibre reinforced plastics material and an intermediate layer 2 of a non-hydrophilic plastics-bonded granular material comprising particles 2a having an average size which is substantially smaller than the radial thickness of the filler layer. Each of the layers may be bonded together and the granular material may have a modulus of elasticity of at least 200,000. The granular material 2a may be of slag, coke or an expanded or burned clay, which particles are bound by a resinous binder. The particles preferably have a specific gravity of between 0À6 and 0À9, a modulus of elasticity from 500,000 to 750,000 and a diameter of “ to 1/6 of the filling layer thickness. An inner protective layer 4 may also be provided. The pipe is made by forming the layer successively proceeding from the outermost layer.
