Abstract

1,166,776. Pistons. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 29 May, 1968, No. 25633/68. Heading F2T. An internal combustion engine piston has an upper ring groove containing a conventional compression piston ring 7 and a lower ring groove housing a lower ring 9 of uniform crosssection and an upper ring 11 having castellations 13 engaging the lower ring 9. The rings 9 and 11, are, preferably, made by a sintering process and, to facilitate their assembly, they are preferably bonded together by an adhesive, e.g. wax, that yields when the engine is in use.
