Abstract

1,166,738. Collapsible louvre assembly. HANKEN SEISAKUSHO K.K. 10 Nov., 1967, No. 51326/67. Heading E1J. A collapsible louvre assembly for ventilation &c. purposes, comprises upper and lower rails 6, 8 of aluminium or stainless steel affixed to the wooden head 2 and sill 3 of a frame surrounding an aperture, a plurality of vertical louvre support pickets 20 carried on roller carriers 18 for movement across the aperture, and louvres 27c hinged at an edge by hinges 33 to respective pickets 20 and pivotable about .the hinges between the fully open .positions and fully closed positions in which adjacent louvres the louvres being maintained in their fully expanded condition 'by a locking means comprising a plate 25 hinged along an edge to the sill 3 and movable through 180‹ as shown to release .the pickets 20 from recesses 24 in the plate 25. The louvres are interconnected by chains 41 or other flexible elements to maintain the free edges of the louvres equidistant when pivoting. A rigid tie-bar 25 may be pivotally con nected to the free ends at least of the extreme . louvres and may be located at the top or bottom of the louvres. The louvres are formed of aluminium or stainless steel of hollow triangular cross-section.
