An acrobatic toy 10 comprises a pair of upstanding laterally aligned lever members 26, each pivoted about an axis between its ends (at the edges of slots 22 and 22') such that the upper ends of the levers are displaced away from each other when the lower ends 28 are displaced toward each other, and two reaches of string or the like 40, preferably as a loop of string, between the upper ends of the lever member, the ends of the reaches being maintained in spaced relationship both adjacent the lever members and adjacent the supports 46, the string being threaded through diametrically opposed holes 50 in 46, such that when the lever members are displaced away from each other the string is pulled from the position shown in Fig. 4 to the taut parallel arrangement shown in Fig. 5; the figure 60 rotatably mounted about an axis between the lower ends of two support arms 44 so that the portions of the body on each side of the axis almost balance, which arms are formed integrally with discs 46, is thus caused to move from a pendant position (solid lines, Fig. 2) to an elevated position {dotted lines, Fig. 2),and the figure further rotates about the axis at the lower end of the arms. The small difference in balance of the figure may be caused by incorporating a 1-20 gm. weight. A base 12 may be provided, which incorporates means for turning levers 26 about their pivots 22 and 22', i.e. buttons 30, on members 26, which extend through holes 24. The loop of string may be accommodated :in a slot at the upper ends of 26, and may be held in place by a U-clip. The discs 46 forming part of supports 44 may be joined by: a crosspiece 52 over which the string passes.
