In a record player the means resiliently mounting the deck plate carrying mechanical components, in the cabinet, includes a mounting device comprising a screw or the like adapted to engage rigidly with a support base in the cabinet, an upper abutment member engaged under the head of the screw, a lower abutment member adapted to engage the support base, a distance piece located between the upper and lower abutment members serving to maintain them a fixed distance apart, and a sleeve of rubber or like resilient material surrounding the screw or the like and having its upper and lower ends engaging, respectively, the underside of the upper abutment member and the upper side of the lower abutment member, the deck plate of the record player being engaged with, and supported by, the sleeve. As described, the deck plate may be of steel or a plastics material, and the cabinet may be of a plastics material or wood. As shown in Fig. 3, the cabinet 10 is of wood, having, as support base, a " motor board" 16 into which a screw 17 is threaded. The lower abutment member and distance piece are made in one piece, and are constituted by a flange 23 and a sleeve 22, respectively. The upper abutment member is in the form of a washer 20 under the frusto-conical underside 19 of the screw-head 18. The rubber sleeve 24 surrounds the distance sleeve 22 and has a circumferential groove 26 in its exterior in which engages the peripheral edge of a circular hole 27 in a steel deck plate 11. Preferably the rubber sleeve 24 has a lower portion 25 which engages the sleeve 22. Where the cabinet is of a plastics material, and the deck plate is again of steel, the parts 11 and 17 to 26 are exactly as shown in Fig. 3. The threaded shank 21 of the screw 17, however, engages in a hole 15 in an upstanding boss 14 moulded integrally with the plastics cabinet, these parts being shown in Fig. 4. Where both the cabinet and the deck plate are of plastics material, as shown in Fig. 4, the deck plate preferably has a shallow depression 28 in which the hole 27 is formed, and the flange 23 is of reduced thickness as compared with Fig. 3. Where the cabinet is of wood and the deck plate is again of plastics material, the parts 11 and 17 to 28 are exactly as shown in Fig. 4. However, a spacing washer is interposed between the flange 23 and the motor board.
