Abstract
1,166,462. Variable resistors. SPECTROL ELECTRONICS CORP. 12 Oct., 1966 [2 Nov., 1965], No. 45696/66. Heading H1S. The rotor 41 of a variable layer or wire resistor includes a resiliently deformable part 51 extending into engagement with a shroud 61 to seal the internal parts from the atmosphere. The part 51 also urges a conductive contact member 31 carried by the rotor into engagement with the resistance element 21 which is carried on an insulating base 23. The rotor 41, which may be of fibreglass filled plastics, has a protrusion 47 extending through a hole 35 in the contact element 31 and which is heat deformed to secure the contact element to the rotor. A centre post 25 provides connection to the contact element. Specification 1,166,463 is referred to.
