Abstract

1,165,314. Phase-shifting circuits. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. 13 Feb., 1968 [2 March, 1967], No. 6914/68. Heading H2F. [Also in Division H4] A phase-switching circuit arrangement which may be used in a PAL colour TV receiver for repetitively switching the phase of a reference carrier through 90 degrees, comprises a resistance 2 in series with an impedance 3 of the same value, means such as the transformer 1 for applying the signal to be phase-switched across the series circuit, a load 4 connected to the junction of the impedances, and switching means adapted alternately to connect the two ends of the series circuit to a point of reference potential. In Fig. 3 the switching means comprises a pair of diodes 6, 7 which are rendered conductive alternately by square wave signals applied to terminals 10 and 11. When diode 6 conducts the output is the voltage across resistance 2, and when diode 7 conducts the output is the voltage across impedance 3. The phase rotation is independent of the output load and the output voltage is the same in both switching positions. A modified circuit uses a centre-tapped transformer, Fig. 3 (not shown).
