Abstract

1,164,917. Coiling slivers. SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. 12 Dec., 1967 [17 Dec., 1966], No. 56314/67. Heading D1F. A sliver coiler has control means to stop the revolving sliver tube when the can is full in a position in which the outlet of the tube is directed in the opposite direction to that in which the cans are to be removed so that, on can removal, the sliver is sharply deflected at the outlet of the tube, and is thereby effectively clamped and broken. The control means may be electrically, optically, or mechanically operated. In an example an arcuate reflecting strip may be adjustably positioned on the coiler plate or on a tube wheel mounted in the plate to deflect light from a stationary source onto a photo-cell to cause an electric brake to be applied to the plate during the final slow-running phase thereof. Alternatively a cam-released brake may be used.
