Abstract

1,164,707. Hose storage cabinet. DE VILBISS CO. Ltd. 23 May, 1968 [5 June, 1967], No. 25824/67. Heading B8M. A hose cabinet and retracting device in which each hose 3 is stored in a vertical loop about a pulley block 6 from a fixed point to an exit orifice, is provided with a counterweighted cable 10 carrying the pulley block 6 and connected with a partially toothed ratchet wheel controlled by a spring loaded pawl, the arrangement being such that free withdrawal of the hose is always permitted and retraction of the hose is automatically achieved upon a deliberate positioning of the ratchet wheel. A stop is preferably provided on the hose to prevent full retraction into the cabinet, and a tubular guide is preferably provided at the exit orifice of the cabinet. The pawl is provided with one rounded face and one straight acute angled face and is spring biased towards a radial position relative to the ratchet wheel. The ratchet wheel is provided with an arcuate set-back portion in which the pawl assumes the radial position, retraction of the hose is then permitted with the rounded face of the pawl riding over the teeth of the ratchet wheel.
