Abstract
1,164,277. Polyether polyols. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 26 Oct., 1966 [2 Nov., 1965], No. 46349/65. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] Polyether polyols are prepared by reaction of an alkylene oxide with a mixture of a polyhydric alcohol having a melting point above 100‹ C. and an aromatic amino compound that is liquid at 100‹ C. and in which there is directly attached to an aromatic nucleus at least one group of the formula -NR 1 R 2 , wherein R 1 is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyalkyl group and R 2 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a hydroxyalkyl group. Ethylene oxide, propylene oxide and butylene oxide and mixtures thereof may be used as the alkylene oxide. Polyhydric alcohols having melting-points above 100‹ C., include trimethylolethane, pentaerythritol, methyl glucoside, sorbitol, mannitol, dulcitol, dipentaerythritol, sucrose, and glucamine, glucosamine and glucosaminol and their N-alkyl derivatives. Suitable aromatic amino compounds include aniline, toluidines, phenetidines, anisidines, N- methyl- and N-ethyl-aniline, N-methyl-toluidines, diphenylamine, p-amino-diphenylamine, p-aminodimethylaniline, phenylene diamines, tolylene diamines, p,p-diaminodiphenylmethane and other aniline-formaldehyde condensates, bis - 2 - hydroxyethylaniline, bis - 2 - hydroxypropylaniline and reaction products of tolylene diamines or diaminodiphenylmethanes with up to 4 moles per mole of ethylene oxide or propylene oxide. In the examples polyether polyols having hydroxyl values of 464, 460 and 533 mg. KOH/g. are prepared.
