Abstract

1,163,626. Valves. TEXSTEAM CORP. 31 Aug., 1967, No. 39898/67. Heading F2V. A loose ball check valve which seats on a rigid seat 30, includes a sealing member 32 of resilient material which is engaged by the ball before the latter engages the rigid seat and is deformed by the fluid pressure to seal the valve at the seat. The seal has an outer peripheral portion 38 sealed to the valve body, an inner peripheral portion 42 engaged by the ball, and a connecting portion 46. The outer portion includes a reinforcing ring 52 and beads 47 on the resilient portion. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the reinforcement is omitted and the seal is bonded to a flange (58) of a tubular seat member (56). The ball is guided in a chamber 20 by inclined guide tracks 26. A bottom guide 28 aligns the ball with the seating.
