Abstract

1,163,511. Papermakers' felt; treating textiles. ALBANY FELT CO. 13 March, 1968 [5 April, 1967], No. 12253/68. Headings DIK and D1P. A papermakers felt comprises lengthwise yarns of continuous filament nylon, and crosswise yarns consisting of two-ply asbestos yarns wrapped round a wire of copper nickel alloy. The cross-wise yarns are disposed in two layers so as to lie in plane displaced from the neutral axis of the fabric and thereby resist forces tending to bend or wrinkle the fabric. The fabric may be woven flat and joined into an endless belt after weaving (in which case the crosswise yarns are weft) or may be woven as a tube, from which pieces are cut to form belts (in which case the cross-wise yarns are warp). The warp and weft may be bonded together by treating the fabric with resorcinolformaldehyde resin and acrylic resin or with urethane resin.
