Abstract
1,162,956. Transformers and inductors. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. 2 Dec., 1966 [2 Dec., 1965], No. 54116/ 66 Heading H1T. Transformers, reactors and like apparatus housed in a tank 20 have their core legs clamped by plates 1 connected at their lower ends to coil tables serving as yoke clamps and at their upper ends to support members 2 located outside or accessible from outside the tank and to which winding clamping rods 3 are adjustably connected during clamping of the windings such that the clamping pressure is adjustable from outside the tank. Several embodiments are described in which the clamping pressure is applied hydraulically or mechanically and the clamping means removed after taking steps to maintain the pressure. Thus, the press 19 of Fig. 4 may be removed after placing blocks between the member 2 and rod 3. The member 2 may be replaced by a plate 2 welded to the tank (Fig. 1, not shown) or to an upper yoke clamp (5, Fig. 2, not shown) and the rod 2 screwed through, and subsequently welded to, the plate 2 to apply the pressure. Hydraulic pressure may be applied between the beams 5 and coil pressure plates (7, Fig. 5, not shown) and the pressure maintained after removal by welding the rods 3 to U-shaped members, through which they pass, placed on the beams 5 and welded to the tank and leg clamping plates 1. Alternatively, the presses may act between the ends of the rods 3 and girders (16, Fig. 3, not shown) atop the tank, or between threaded rods and a jig (2, Figs. 6, 7, not shown) welded to the beams 5 and capable of maintaining the pressure by adjustment of a nut (24) while the remainder (21, 22) is dismantled through an aperture in the tank.
