1,161,750. Hydrocarbon conversion catalysts. STANDARD OIL CO. 16 Non., 1966 [6 Dec.,1965], No. 51453/66. Heading B1E. [Also in Division C5] Hydrocarbon conversion catalysts comprise 0.1 to 2% of a Group VIII precious metal, 2 to 95% of mondenite, 0.05 to 5% halogen and 5 to 98% Al 2 0 3 . The only specified Group VIII precious metal is Pt. The preferred halogen is Cl. The halogen may be residual i.e. associated with the catalyst 'by decomposing H 2 PtCl 6 or may be introduced separately as HF, HCI or H,Br. The catalyst may be used as pills, pellets or granules in a fixed or fluidised bed.
