Abstract

1,161,334. Bearings. SZERSZAMGEPIPARI MUVEK. 31 Oct., 1966, No. 48782/66. Heading F2A. A bearing for a reversible shaft comprises pivotable bearing elements, each element having pressurized lubricant supplied to a groove 5 in its bearing surface adjacent the leading edge and withdrawn from a groove 5a adjacent the trailing edge. The grooves 5, 5a are equidistant from the pivot point of the respective element. In Fig. 4 elements 1 have studs 18 which extend through holes in a sleeve 20 and pivot on a conical inner surface of a ring 19. The clearance between the elements 1 and the shaft 21 is adjusted by axial movement of the studs along the surface. This movement is produced by a ring 22, Fig. 5, threaded to a housing 23 and to sleeve 20 by threads of different pitches. The grooves 5, 5a are connected by passages 26, 27 to respective sides of a pump, the flow of lubricant being reversed on reversal of the shaft.
