[Also in Division F2] A lathe spindle 8 is driven by an electric motor 2 through reduction and headstock gears 1, 11, the shafts 4, 6, 8 of the respective members carrying pulleys 3, 5, 7 which are engaged by a common drive belt. The pulleys 5, 7 incorporate clutches 9, 10, the former of which when engaged gives a low speed drive through the headstock gears, while the latter gives a direct high speed belt drive between the pulleys 3 and 7.
