Abstract
1,159,725. Continuous envelope assemblies. ALACRA Ltd., R. SERGEANT, and J. WATTS. 24 May, 1967 [24 Feb., 1966], No. 8258/66. Heading B6A. A series of interconnected zig-zag folded envelopes used as pay packets is produced by superposing on a first web 1, which is provided with a printed pattern of self-adhesive 3a, a second web 2 whose width is delineated by the lines 2a, the superposed webs 1, 2 defining pockets 4 which are disposed in alternately facing directions and which following severance of the envelopes along lines of weakness 5, 9 are sealed by flaps 13 provided with self-adhesive patches 10 which are brought into contact with aligned self-adhesive patches 11 on the web 2. The self-adhesive patches 10, 11 are spaced alternately so that on zig-zag folding of the envelopes the patches are not brought into contact with each other. The sealed pay packet may be opened by the recipient along the line of weakness 7a or partially opened by tearing off the flap 13a to check the correct number of currency notes in the packet. The perforated margins 12 may be severed along a line of weakness 16 and the portion 14 of the web 1 may be torn-off along the frangible fold line 6 or provided with printed information.
