Abstract

115.970. Amalgamated Press. Ltd., Wright, J. H., and Harrison, A. S. July 30, 1917. Cylinder, rotary, and plate machines; heating, drying, and damping apparatus; inking-apparatus. -Printing-machines are provided with a system of pipes passing through and about the machine near the groups of inking-rollers and other elements, for supplying either steam, or hot, cold, dry ,or moist air, or a mixture of air and steam, for regulating the temperature and humidity of the air surrounding the machine and in the room. As shown, pipes A connected with a pump, fan or blower B may be supplied with steam, if necessary, from a pipe F having regulating-valves G, and the steam or air, or a mixture of steam and air, is forced through branches of the pipes A extending across and through the machine. The pipes are perforated where required, for exit of the air or steam, &c., and a drain trap or syphon may be provided for condensed steam. The pump B may be driven from a shaft E of the machine.
