Abstract

1,159,635. Collapsible louvre assemblies. A. STOEVER 20 Feb., 1968 [21 Feb., 1967], No. 8100/68. Heading E1J. In a collapsible louvre sunblind or other louvre assembly for horizontal or vertical collapse the turning of the louvres about their central axes and their movement bodily to the same draw-mechanism through a lost motion clutch device. As shown .the shank 4a of a slot or louvre attached to the slat holder 4 has thereon a toothed rim sleeve 13 which engages with a worm nut 11 provided with internal helical teeth 12 which rotate the axially fixed nut 11 on rotation of the threaded spindle 8, to rotate the louvre about its longitudinal axis. The end of the shank 4a has a diverging conical portion 15 and a collar 16 with a corresponding conical interior is displaceably arranged at the lower end of the shank 4a and is urged against the portion 15 by a compression spring 14 and prevented from rotation on the shank by a projection 16a located in a groove 13b on the interior of the sleeve 13, the whole being mounted in a hollow in a carriage (Fig. 5) 6 adapted to run by rollers on a lower guide track, and similarly on an upper guide track. A transverse pin 18 contacts stops 19, 20 and prevents rotary motion of the shank 4a and the continued rotary movement of spindle 8 is converted through teeth 12 and nut 11 into bodily shift movement .of the shaft 4a and slat along the spindle 8. The carriages are interconnected by pivoted link bars which maintain equidistance between the carriages and prevent the locking alignment when in their closed position. When the carriage is of open top form (Fig. 3) flexible dust excluding strips close the opening, allow movement of the shanks 4a along the guide.
