An induction furnace having molten metal 17 therein, the metal being circulated by an induction pot 16, has the molten material supplied at 15 from a cupola or other melting furnace, or preheated material supplied at 20, the melt being stirred and the composition averaged out from several batches. A feed 18 leads to a spinning or other machine. The invention is particularly concerned with the treatment of slag-wool.
