In a coffee mill comprising a grinding element 5 mounted on the shaft 3 of a motor arranged in a housing 2 and a grinding element 7 forming part of a funnel piece S which constitutes a channel for the supply of coffee .beans to the elements 5, 7 and which has a rim 16 rotation of which permits the funnel piece to be adjusted axially relative to the shaft 3 to control the fineness of grinding, the funnel piece is supported from the end plate 17 of the housing 2 which plate is axially adjustable relative to the shaft 3. The plate 17 is supported by a spring 18 and guided by a cylindrical bearing boss 19 of the housing 2. The plate 17 is provided with cams 25 coacting with spokes 26, which connect the boss 19 to an annular wall part 28 of the housing 2, to determine the different axial positions of the plate relative to the shaft 3 as indicated by an index sign 43, on the rim 16, which is movable along an index 44 provided on an annular part 40. The part 40 has an internal milled edge 41 having vertical teeth engageable by a resilient pawl 42 connected to the rim 16. The funnel piece 8 is fixed on supporting pins 23 which project from the plate 17. The housing 2 is supported by tongues 12, through flexible rings 13, by supports 14 projecting from the base 15 of the central part 1 of the mill. The ground coffee is received in a removable cup 33. In a modification, the cup (33, Fig. 2) has outwardly-bent peripheral parts (45) which hook on to an annular spring (48) housed in the rim (16). The peripheral parts (45) are provided with downwardly and outwardly projecting fingers (47) which can be resiliently pushed inwards together with the peripheral parts (45). The cup, peripheral parts and fingers may be made in one piece from synthetic material. The rim (16) has screwed thereon an outer ring (49) which is locked by one end (50) of the spring (48) passing through a bore of the rim (16), the outer ring (49) surrounding the downwardly-projecting part (40) of the coffee-bean container and having an aperture (52) through which the adjusted position can be read on the index provided on the annular part (40).
